Q&A with C.R. Moss (author) and Cassandra from A Wish Across Time

A look at C.R. Moss and Cassandra from
A Wish Across Time

Hi everyone! I’m here today as one of the spotlight authors of HMK 2015 and am happy to tell you all a bit about myself and my most recent C.R. Moss release.

First a small Q & A about me…

1) Please tell us 5 interesting facts about yourself that readers might not know about you …

I used to crew for a balloon pilot. I watch most of the RHO_ shows on Bravo. I used to dance. I used to compete in twirling competitions. I’m planning on going for my Concealed Carry Permit.

2) What do you like to do in your spare time?

I read, crochet, play cards with friends and family and travel.

3) How did you get started writing and have you always wanted to be an author?
For a very brief period of time, I had ideas of becoming a teacher or an astronaut. Both occurred before the age of ten. But for the most part, I knew I wanted to write at a young age, as early as I learned to read. I was always cooking up stories to entertain myself in the rural area I lived in. Had to since there were no other kids around to play with. My defining moment came when I received an A in English in grade school. I was just shy of being a teenager when I had my ‘calling.’ Ever since then, most of my choices in life have revolved around my goal of becoming a full-time fiction writer and being published.

Upon my ‘calling,’ I had written a story for a magazine. It’d been rejected, but that was my start. After that, I began studying the craft of writing. It started with working on the school newspaper in middle school to creative writing classes and Teens Art Festivals in high school. I received a BA in Communications, Information and Library Studies from Rutgers College with a strong concentration in English Lit/Writing and Interpersonal Communications/PR. Studying under the mentorship of Terri Valentine (author of ‘Sands of Time,’ a Zebra Historical Romance), I honed my novel writing skills. In the mid to late 2000s, I finally put my foot down, got over my nerves and took the plunge into submitting stories to publishers. I’ve been published since 2008, and as for the craft, I’m still learning things by taking the occasional online class, attending industry conferences, and devouring all the writing how-to books I can get my hands on.

4) If you for some reason couldn’t be an author, what would your other choice be?

I’ve worked as a massage therapist, real estate agent and as an office admin/executive assistant. Most of my choices in life have revolved around my goal of becoming a full-time fiction writer and being published. Writing is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a kid. It’s like breathing and eating. It’s intrinsic, a must do or I’ll go crazy type thing. I’m an author in my soul. But, if I had no choice and couldn’t be a writer, I’d probably fall back on what I’ve done in the past.

My bio:

An eccentric and eclectic writer, C.R. Moss pens stories for the
mainstream and erotic romance markets, giving readers Worlds of Possibilities.

More about C.R. Moss:

So what does she write? She writes stories from the light and sweet to the dark and deadly with varying degrees of sexual heat. Writing as C.R. Moss gives her and her muses the freedom to explore worlds of possibilities when it comes to love. And where does the tag line “Love & Lust in the Wild West” fit in? Well, for one, she lives in NV. Two, her stories take place, either in part or in full, in and around the Las Vegas area. In fact, even this website sports “a look of home.” The background picture was taken in an area just a few miles west of Las Vegas and happens to be the inspiration for the setting of the Double D Ranch Tales saga.

She also has a passion for penning dark fiction. Writing under the name Casey Moss allows her to slate other stories under Horror ~ Paranormal ~ Suspense ~ Thriller ~ Urban Fantasy. Visit: Casey Moss website

My most recent C.R. Moss release is A Wish Across Time and the heroine wanted to share a peek of herself and her playlist with you all.

Hi! I’m Cassandra VanAlder. I was born and raised in Nevada, and with a friend, run a nice boutique serving the community’s mystical needs. You’ve seen glimpses of me and my feline familiar, Myrddin, in Evelyn and Julie’s stories, and now, in my story A Wish Across Time, you’ll learn how I became the woman I am today.
Ever been asked if you have a playlist for your life? Well, I have. It’s not necessarily a playlist for my whole life but for a particular of it, and I’m happy to share it with you today.

…A couple of songs I thought about when I encountered a man from my past…

10. Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar from the album, “In the Heat of the Night”

09. Over You by Ingrid Michaelson (feat. A Great Big World) from the album, “Lights Out”

…Which brings up what happened between us back then and songs I felt relative…

08. I Just Died In Your Arms by Cutting Crew from the album, “Broadcast”

07. Wicked Game by Chris Isaak from the album, “Best of Chris Isaak”

06. Separate Way by Journey from the album, “Frontiers”

05. Why Should I Cry for You by Sting from the album, “The Soul Cages”

…And now some songs that cover what’s going on between him and I in the present…

04. Just Breathe by Addie Hamilton from the album, “Heavy Hitters Music”

03. Stay by Rihanna (Feat. Mikky Ekko) from the album, “Unapologetic”

02. That Was Yesterday by Foreigner from the album, “Agent Provocateur”

01. Disappear 'Demo Version' by Mikky Ekko. It’s a single.

You can find all these songs online. :) Happy listening!

Here’s the info for the story!

Blurb: Raritan Manor Ranch, 3
A woman once shunned. A man now changed. There’s a thin line between love and hate.

When Wiccan practitioner Cassandra VanAlder encounters a man from her past who’d broken her heart, she casts some spells to help herself while wishing karma would deal out some payback. The spells turn against her, and before she knows it, she finds herself falling for him again.

Ryan Keene finds Cassandra enchanting and feels he’s met her somewhere before. She and her best friend, Debi, won’t give him any clues as to her identity. He loves challenges and doesn’t plan to back off from her until he finds the answers he seeks. He's told he has three dates to win her over.

Will she close off her heart or will she allow herself to feel again?

Excerpt (Adult)

Moments later, he jerked out and away from her, then pulled her up from the floor. In a quick turn, he spun and thrust her back against the wall. His mouth claimed hers with unapologetic force. He fumbled with the fastens of her jeans, then when they were undone, tugged the material down her legs.

“Commando, huh?” Not letting her answer, he positioned his head between her legs and swept his tongue over her pussy.

Fleeting imaginings of her family and friends coming home and being welcomed by the sight of her and Ryan fucking at the foot of the stairs danced through her mind. If it happened, so be it. Getting caught only added to the heightened state of arousal she was already in.

His tongue and fingers stroked her. Her heartbeat sped up, as did her breathing. He seemed to have mastered the technique of cunnilingus if the way her nerves caught fire and flamed up from her pussy to the rest of her body were any indication. She panted. She clasped his head, ready to feel an orgasm rip through her body.

He stopped, stood, and reached into his back pocket. He pulled out his wallet, and from it, the all too familiar foil packet. Ryan held it up. “Yes?”

“Yes.” She nodded as well to emphasize the point.

In a few quick motions, he had himself sheathed and pressed up against her body. “You are one sexy lady. Anyone ever tell you that?”

She bobbed her head again and guided his cock into her pussy.

“Put your legs around me,” he demanded.

Supported by the wall and his hands on her ass, she wrapped one leg then the other around him and found the position to be quite enjoyable. Ryan pumped into her as he kissed and sucked her shoulder. She rode him, feeling the sexual energy build between them.

Her ex had never been so passionate. In fact, their lovemaking had been so normal and ordinary he never would have considered taking her up against a wall, and especially not in a location where they could get caught. It was nice being with a man who exuded confidence and gave into desire, even if it was Ryan.

The Wild West Way with C.R. Moss & RM Sotera

Hi all! Get excited! The Hot Mojave Knights Readers’ Conference is coming up quick! :)

Today I’m here to talk about co-authoring the Double D Ranch Tales series and the special event my writing partner, RM Sotera, and I will be hosting at the conference.

During an interview, we were once asked about co-authoring and what drew us to write a Contemporary Erotic Western Romance. The following are our answers.

C.R.: I thought it'd be fun…sexy cowboys, rugged terrain, hot nights… ;)

RM: I agree. I mean, who doesn't like a man who can tie you up, lay you down, and basically keep you in any position he sees fit. :)

C.R.: What also drew us into writing the first and subsequent stories and dipping our feet into the genre(s) was a trip I went on where I stayed on a working ranch. There were ranchers/cowboys who actually wore the hats and chaps. There were horses, trail rides, campfires, cattle and food cooked outside. My muse started asking, "What if?" When I returned home with a handful of ideas, I went to RM and said, "Guess what we're going to write about."

RM: Yeah, that was an interesting conversation. I was a bit worried about writing it since I hadn’t been there in person, but C.R. had taken lots of pictures and shared them with me. We'd written another set of books together, and co-authoring this project just seemed like the logical thing to do once we did a lot of brainstorming and started verbally laying down the first story. We had a blast dreaming up the Dougan brothers, and then, adding two heroines that could bring the men to their knees or kick some ass, was an awesome feeling. And, it’s just grown from there.

C.R.: Speaking of co-authoring… It’s amazing when something clicks and our teaming up together did just that. RM defines our partnership best…

RM: Many people have asked me what it's like to work with a co-author. I do believe my answer surprises many. One would think that two authors, both striving for creative freedom, would find it difficult to work together. I am happy to say that I've found the opposite to be true. The creative relationship that I share with CR Moss is what I believe to be a once in a lifetime occurrence. As soon as we are in a room together or on the phone and we start brainstorming ideas for stories, the creative sparks fly hard and fast. Sometimes, I'm unable to process as fast as we spit out the ideas for stories. We just have that connection. We respect each other, and when an idea doesn't work, we file it for another time. Value and respect, commitment and willingness to accept change - this is our mantra. When the idea of Wild West Weekend (the first story in the Double D Ranch Tales series) came about, excitement drove us to pump the story out. It went through many revisions before we both knew it was ready. We had a blast dreaming up the awesome characters and the magical place they call home. I know we are extremely humbled and happy by the positive reviews and comments that have come our way - both about the book and our writing styles. I know, and I believe I speak for both of us, we have so much more planned for our readers and the Wild West/Double D Ranch Tales series.

And that brings me to our special event: The Wild West Way

RM & I are developing a sub-series for the Double D Tales, and we’re inviting the HMK attendees in on it! You’ll get to meet us and learn about us in a more intimate setting. There will be an interactive section of the event where you’ll help us write another Wild West story, and there will also be music and prizes. For more information, please visit: http://doubledranchtales.blogspot.com/p/hmk.html

We hope to see you there!
